Yeah, so I realize that Caleb is QUICKLY approaching 2 months & I have not posted a thing since week 2. OPPS! With Caleb & Jayla consuming my life -and I truly mean that in the BEST possible way, my time is much more limited. That is by no means me complaining, because I would not have it ANY other way. There is no greater reward than a child's smile and/or laughter.
I was on week 3, that I was back in the daily grind caring for Jayla & now my precious boy. Although, I refuse to say its not challenging, I expected it to be much more difficult than it turned out to be. But, with mom's help the first couple of weeks it turned out wonderfully.
Jayla love Caleb so much. The bond between them was instant. I love watching her talk so sweet to him & she often narrates her day to him as she plays, introducing him to her animals & dolls. At this point he is so aware of his environment and he's become curious. His eyes rarely leave Jayla as long as she is entertaining him.
It blows me away how quickly a child learns as an infant. Caleb's involuntary gassy smiles have now turned to voluntary smiles of satisfaction. Oh, how he melts my heart. At 3.5-4 weeks he hilariously grunted constantly. His grunts turned into coo's at 4.5 weeks, and a little over 5 weeks he cooed "I good" for the 1st time. Did I capture the moment? Of course! (You all know I keep the camera in his face. I have joke that my child will likely have an inflated ego because of it.)
He is kicking & batting at the animals on the play mat now while enjoying some tunes eeryday. He loves to "play & dance" (as Jayla says). I truly think Caleb has a love for music. Turn some tunes on, sing to him, and you have a happy baby boy.
We have established a night routine which has made my life easier and more difficult at the same time. Bath (which is his play time), massage, swaddle, rock/nurse = out (most nights). He has adapted beautifully to the routine. Me? Well, sometimes I go through all that then realize I have not even eaten dinner yet. Don't worry, I am finding time to eat. Sleep has manages to creep up to the top of the priority list these days though. Now, going to bed at 9 p.m. does not seem like such a crazy thing to do. He is sleeping anywhere from 6.5-8.5 hours per night (not at once, of course but I still manage that much sleep).
Caleb's 1 month stats:
- 9 lbs. 7 oz.
- 21.5 in.
- 15 in. head circumference
Caleb will go for his 2 month check up on Oct. 11, which mean shots. I have tylenol ready for him. For me? That evening may require a glass of wine. LOL
A few of Caleb's favorite things:
- Sleeping on his belly (although I only allow him to at naptime -SOMETIMES)
- Swing
- Carried in Sling
- Music
- His thumb (if only he could figure out how to keep that thing in there)
WOW -Caleb had a record sleep last night (9/22) sleeping 6.25 hours before waking to eat then right back to sleep until time to get up & ready to leave. Keep it up big guy!
Hopefully, I'll do a better job keeping everyone up to date in a timely fashion. In the meantime, enjoy the images of my best guy (& best gal):
